FAQ's

1. What is Networker?

Networker is a desktop software client used to access the Presence Networks server-based secure real time unified communications system, offering the use of Instant Messaging (IM), email, SMS, message broadcasting, teleconferencing, file transfer and storage, VoIP telephony and eMeetings (including online conferencing and remote presentations).

All Networker communications are presence-enabled. Networker is delivered as software as a service, with the option of a fully managed service provided by Presence Networks – saving you time, cost and productivity.

Networker is also available as a web-based client and mobile options including a Blackberry client.

2. What is Presence?

Presence is an online availability status indicator. Networker's inbuilt presence capabilities facilitate instant messaging by indicating who is online and ready to chat, allowing you to make informed decisions about who to contact and when. You can view the presence status of all contacts and can chose your own status from a list of options including 'Available', 'Away', 'On Break', 'On Voicemail', 'Busy', 'In Meeting', 'On Phone', 'On Mobile' and 'Invisible'.

3. How secure is Networker?

All IM and eMeetings are protected using 128bit SSL encryption, and stored files are protected using 168bit 3DES encryption. Communications are recorded and archived for data protection and Compliance purposes. All users are authenticated to ensure that you are only contacted by authorised contacts who are already known to you.

4. What platforms does Networker support?

Networker is currently available for the Microsoft Windows desktop and a RIM Blackberry mobile client is coming soon.
The Presence Networks web based Ajax client allows for connection to your Networker account regardless of location.

5. What is the difference between Networker and Public IM systems, such as MSN, AOL IM and Yahoo! IM?

Many people are unaware of the risks posed by the use of public IM systems in the workplace. Public IM is not secure and data is neither encrypted nor recorded, leaving both the organisation and the user vulnerable to the threat of data loss, hackers, viruses and other malware. In contrast, Networker is a secure interface for real time communications. All IM chat and data sent via Networker is recorded and protected by high levels of encryption.

Networker is supported by Service Level Agreements to ensure reliability of service, whereas public IM is not. Therefore with Networker you can use IM in your business with confidence.
Furthermore, unlike public IM services Networker is not based on peer-to-peer technology but is instead supported by scalable and reliable system architecture.

6. Does Networker communicate with Public IM systems?

Yes. If authorised to do so by your Network administrator you can use Networker to securely connect to your public IM accounts. Thus, you can add contacts, securely communicate and share presence information with users of MSN Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger, ICQ Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger.

7. Is there a free evaluation/trial version of Networker?

Yes. Use the link on the Home Page to register for a free 14 day trial for up to 10 users.
